This morning we saw a group of 10 lion cubs! Our guide told us that they were born around October and are now about 8 months old. There were 7 males and 3 females. He told us that the survival into adulthood is unlikely. He offered some reassurance by explaining how this particular group is looked after by three different mothers and one father so their chances of survival are much higher! That made me feel better!
I promise I will post some better pictures/video as soon as we have better internet!

They look so sweet!

Beautiful! Why is their survival into adulthood (normally) unlikely? It looks like you are so close! Do the animals seem bothered/scared by the humans and vehicles?

Sometimes the mothers are not able to care for all of the cubs or they are attacked by other animals. But these guys had three mothers looking out for them so chances are high! The lions are not scared by the humans and vehicles, you can park 5 feet from where they are sleeping and watch them for as long as you like. Some of the other animals like the antelope and wildebeests will start walking away if you get too close. Overall, I am pretty surprised at how comfortable all the animals seem around humans and vehicles.
